Local Non-Profit Transforms Neighborhood Crime Scenes to Halloween Theme

Gresham, OR – One sketchy neighborhood, in the suburbs of Portland, is feeling particularly festive this October; thanks to the organization, Halloween in the Hood.

Founded by Stephanie Pruitt last year, the goal of the organization is to transform police tape covered houses into fun Halloween themed decorations.

Pruitt got the idea when visiting a friend in a more affluent neighborhood, she noticed that many of the houses made use of police tape in their Halloween decorations.

“There are already plenty of houses in my neighborhood covered in police tape,” stated Pruitt

“All it takes is some pumpkins and cardboard tombstones to turn a crime scene into a festive Halloween theme”.

Frank Jackson, a neighbor and supporter of the non-profit, looks forward to the transformation of the neighborhood in October.

“I know I live in a sketchy neighborhood, but I don’t need a crime scene on every block to remind me. The Halloween decorations make me feel like I live in a community that cares.”

Inspired by Halloween in the Hood, another local non-profit, Light it Up, aims to decorate boarded up meth houses with Christmas lights in December.
