At the dinner table Friday night, Parker Emerson, 6, casually mentioned to his parents his intention to eat his entire bag of Halloween candy as soon as he gets home from Trick-or-Treating.
“What’s the big deal, it’s my candy… Why can’t I eat it when I want?”
Emerson burst into tears when his mother declared that he “absolutely will not be eating the entire bag of Halloween candy in one sitting” Adding insult to injury, she clarified, “You can have 2 pieces of candy, of your choice, on Halloween”
Emerson protested and between sobs said, “I get to choose the 2 pieces I can eat?! Big deal!”
The boy’s attitude changed immediately when his father said, “If you are going to act like that, there will be no Trick-or-Treating AT ALL”
As of press time, Trick-or-Treating is still planned, provided there are no further outbursts.
