Batman stays in character entire Comic Con weekend, now fears permanent vocal damage

Portland, Ore. – Staying in character all weekend may not have been the best choice for Comic Con attendee “Batman” (he preferred to have his real name withheld from this article) as he now faces possible permanent damage to his vocal cords.

“There were plenty of other Batmen at Comic Con, but they all had those fancy modulators for the voice effect. I already took out a sizable loan to make this costume, so I thought by just doing an impression of the Batman voice, I could save some money.”

What “Batman” did not consider was the toll the iconic low growl would take on his vocal cords.

“My doctor suggested drinking hot lemon water with honey. I’ve been drinking it all day and plan to continue the rest of the week, if necessary.”

Dr. Frederick Lovell explains, “Reproducing the ‘growling lisp’ associated with the Batman voice, puts a significant strain the vocal cords that can be potentially dangerous if practiced consistently for even a short period of time.”

As of press time Dr. Lovell’s prognosis is optimistic, predicting an 80% chance of Batman’s full recovery.
